May is the time for azalias and rhododendrons they look good all around the Pinetum - even the dreaded ponticum - but especially in the Glory Hole.
Look out for cones on the conifers in their array of colours from blue to red.
The wild flowers to look out for are - bluebells and later in the month orchids - we have 4 species growing here.
Rhododendrons are flowering from now until June - throughout the Pinetum but especially in the Glory Hole.
The conifers to look out for with beautiful new cones are Abies, Picea and Pinus. Look in the main valley for lots of samples and go to the area around the Glory Hole for beautiful pines
