Tree for Life
Your tree will be labelled with its species name, year of planting and collection number and have a separate dedication label. For reasons of legibility we recommend not more than 20 words.
We will send you a certificate of sponsorship and a copy of this certificate will be inserted in our Tree for Life register, which is available for inspection in the Friends Room. We will also send you a map showing the location of your tree within the Pinetum and five complimentary family tickets so that any of your relatives who are not Friends can visit your tree over the years to come.
Each year your tree will be inspected by Pinetum staff, who will ensure the labels are in place and the tree is healthy and growing.
Trees are most vulnerable when they are young so we guarantee to replace your tree if it dies in the first five years. If this happens or if it has to be moved – which sometimes occurs – we will write to you to give you the new details.
You can choose from a list of specimen trees that we have selected for their beauty, interesting features or rarity, or meet with the administrator and choose a tree yourself - subject to the curator’s final approval. Each tree is recorded separately and cared for individually, which means you will be able to find your special tree throughout its life – normally at least 80 years.
